Why you might need path lighting

Path lighting is an often passed over item when designing an outdoor lighting system and they are hugely underrated. While having your vertical surroundings lit is very beautiful and eye-catching, being able to see where your next step is very important. Not to mention, path lighting also adds another layer of dimension of lighting, usually adding a bit of foreground to enhance the overall lighting display.

"Umbrella" Path lights
This is the most common style of path light that most people have seen, which is identifiable by a long stem and a light hidden underneath a cone shaped "hat" that looks like an umbrella (sometimes people will refer to this as a "mushroom"). These lights can have a wide variety of finishes, heights, and designs to match the aesthetic of your home

Bollards
Bollards are a different style of path light that have a significantly wider base and rely on the entire structure of the fixture to provide lighting. Often times, these style of lights are consistent in their width from bottom to top and feature ornate details on the sides to make them stand out.

Step Lighting
Step lighting is one of those lighting elements that are immediately appreciated. By lighting up the steps you use on a daily basis, you can be assured that you can see where you are going at night. This can greatly reduce the chance of slipping, tripping or missing a step in the dark and therefore reducing bodily harm or injury.
